Prof. Dr. Bernd Kriegesmann – Head of the Institute

Professor Dr. Bernd Kriegesmann, born 1963, Dipl.-oec., Dr. rer. oec., studied economics
at the Ruhr University Bochum, 1989 to 1991 research assistant at the Institute for
Applied Innovation Research (IAI) Bochum e.V., 1991 to 1993 subject specialist at the
Federal Ministry of Research and Technology (innovation promotion), August 1993 to
February 2000 Managing Director of the IAI, March 2000 to July 2008 Professor of
Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen, from
July 2002 to November 2025 Chairman of the Board of the IAI, since August 2008
President of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences (formerly University of
Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen), since January 2010 Head of the Institute for
Innovation Research and Management (ifi), a central scientific institution of the
Westphalian University and since 2021 Chair of the State Rectors' Conference of
Universities of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia.

He is also author of numerous scientific publications on innovation management,
skills management and education policy
