Project launch: "DigiFlex" ensures an individual and successful start at university - 08/01/2022

Many freshmen face challenges when entering university. This is where the DigiFlex project comes in. In the pilot project at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, flexible additional modules enable an individual and successful start to studies.

Many freshmen face challenges when they begin their studies. The start of a course of study requires students not only to master the subject matter, but also to find their way around the new "cosmos" of higher education. This is especially true against the backdrop of increasingly heterogeneous educational paths that precede university studies.

This is where the DigiFlex project comes in: Starting in the winter semester of 2022/23, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences will be using specially developed modules that are designed to help first-year students successfully master the start of their studies. These flexible additional modules in the areas of mathematics, key competencies, and communication allow for an individual adaptation of the study entry phase to the respective initial requirements of the first-year students.

In the project, ifi is responsible for the evaluation of the DigiFlex modules by surveying the perceived benefits of the courses offered by professors and students and conducting a data-based study of the participants' academic success. In this way, the success of the DigiFlex approach will be evaluated over a period of three years.
